"Friendship Is Essential To The Soul."
The Beta Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. (College of Charleston/The Citadel) was chartered in the city of Charleston, SC on August 11, 1981 by fourteen men thoroughly immersed in the true Omega Spirit. From that day forward, a precedent was set on the campus by the brothers of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift, that holds true to this day. The Beta Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. is dedicated to serving the community in various capacities such as mentoring programs for elementary, middle, and high school students, working with Crisis Ministries, and initiating food drives for the homeless. During the holiday season, we see it as our collective duty as brothers of Omega Psi Phi to do our best to feed the less fortunate and indigent of Charleston no matter what the cost, time, and energy may be. We believe that we have a responsibility to the children of Charleston, especially African American males, because someone has to help them understand that there are positive Black Men who epitomize manhood and want to see them achieve success and will not except excuses from them not doing their best.
